Questions
Where do my saved clips go?
Save to Files puts them in the Files app, in On My iPhone › Trimlet. From there you can move, rename or share them like any other file. After saving, Show in Files takes you straight there.
How do I make a ringtone?
Drag the selection until the clip is 30 seconds or less, and Trimlet shows Fits a ringtone. Tap Save, check the note says it’s ready to be a ringtone, then tap Use as ringtone and choose Use as Ringtone in the share sheet.
The 30 seconds count after any speed change, so a 40s clip at 1.5× fits.
Can I trim without opening the app?
Yes. In Voice Memos, Photos, Files or a messaging app, tap Share and choose Trimlet. Trim it there and save. Trimlet works on a copy, so the original stays untouched.
If Trimlet isn’t in the row of apps, scroll to the end, tap More and add it.
Which files can it open and save?
It opens most audio your iPhone can play, such as M4A, MP3, WAV and AIFF, and the sound from videos such as MOV and MP4, including screen recordings and clips in Photos.
It saves as M4A, WAV or MP3. Pick the format each time you save, or set the default in Settings › Save as.
Can I change the speed without the chipmunk voice?
Yes. Speed goes from 0.5× to 2×, and Keep pitch is on by default, so faster doesn’t sound higher. Turn it off if you want the pitch to follow the speed.
Why is it free?
Trimming a clip or changing its speed takes a few lines of code on your iPhone. Yet some of the most popular apps that do it are estimated to make tens of thousands of dollars a month, mostly from weekly subscriptions.
That felt wrong. So Trimlet is free: no ads, no account, no paywall, no “pro” version. Your audio never leaves your phone.

What do tips do?
Nothing extra. Tips are optional and unlock nothing: everyone gets every feature. If you’d like to leave one, it’s in Settings › Why it’s free, and Apple handles the payment.
Does my audio leave my iPhone?
No. Everything happens on your iPhone, and Trimlet collects no data. Audio only goes somewhere else when you share or save it there yourself. The privacy policy has the details.
